Caldicot & District

u3a

u3a is an amazing organisation for people who are retired or working part time, people who are looking for an interesting and fulfilling way to spend their time.

Caldicot and District u3a have more than 20 special interest groups which include languages, art and music, science and history, leisure activities, sports and mind games.

Our monthly 'Saturday Speaker' events are aimed at all of our members. The speakers can give good advice on the complicated web of rules and regulations in our lives.

If you want a better idea of what we are about, please come to our coffee morning, one of our events or try out one of the groups. The meetings with theme, organising group, place and time are found in our list of Events in the top bar of this page, or use the buttons above.

Coffee Mornings,

For New, Old and Potential members.

Next meeting is on Saturday 7th February. We meet in the Methodist Church in the middle of Caldicot on the first Saturday of the month, from 10am - 12 noon.

The address is Jubilee Way, Newport Road, Caldicot, NP26 4BG

Potential as well as established members, it is an opportunity to get to know about our u3a. There are plenty of people who can answer questions you have about our u3a, or at least try to find the answer for you. This is all over a lovely piece of cake with tea or coffee.

Our u3a is one of more than 1000 individual u3as in UK with more than a total of 500 000 members (2025). u3a is one of the largest membership dependent organisations in UK.

“U3A brings together third age people to pursue educational, social and creative interests on a self-help basis. The U3A model is low-cost, defined by participants, and learner-led. It is not dependent on state funding; it has a life and existence of its own. The emphasis is on inclusion, enjoyment and the stimulation of pursuing interests together.

Research has showed U3A members reported major benefits to being part of our learning model in terms of confidence, feeling supported in new communities, learning new skills, combatting loneliness and most of all, of feeling valued and enjoying life.”

All u3as are affiliated to the Third Age Trust who provide us with centralised services.
