The Strollers Walking Group do a moderate (plus) walk of around 4.5 to 6 miles which may include some hills and stiles.

The group offers everyone a chance to enjoy a walk every Tuesday in the countryside of the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean or local to Caldicot. After the walk the group usually retire to a hostelry for lunch. Occasionally day trips are arranged to places further afield e.g. Gower, Herefordshire. We usually manage to arrange an annual holiday.

Below is a typical description of a walk, the photos during the walk and then a comment after the walk, all posted on Facebook. This was in April 2025, and look at the sweet little lambs.

Llanbadoc chuch, along the river Usk to Usk Castle. 5miles. Meet @ 9.45

The walk starts and finishes at Llanbadoc church car park, by the river Usk. This is an easy 5 mile circular walk which is fairly flat and no styles. We walk along side the river to Usk bridge, where we cross the road and down on to fields. We come to one rise up steps, and then pass Usk castle, then fields and through woods.

There are a few muddy sections, so walking boots will be needed.

Directions.

Make your way to Usk and cross over the river Usk bridge, turn left and Llanbadoc church car park is half a mile on the left hand side. If coming from Caerleon the car park is on the right hand side after Usk garden Center. Meet here at 9-45 to start the walk at 10 am.

We will be eating at the at the Kings Head pub in Market Street, Usk. We will need food orders by Saturday please.

Please note due to parking being difficult near the pub, we will walk straight there. There will be a half mile walk back to the cars after lunch.
