Table tennis is a great sport.  The sport originated in Victorian England, where it was played amongst the upper-classes as an after-dinner parlour game.

It is played with small bats and a superlight ball on tables 274 cm  x 152.5 cm with a 15.25 cm high net across the middle. This is the net you have to get the ball going over and make the ball hit on the opposite end of the table to keep the game going.

Ouch, the ball is in the net.
This ball is about to be hit, coordination is the key.

We generally play doubles which means there are two players on either side of the table and we hit the ball in sequence, so none of this: “YOOOURS” as you get in tennis. We don’t run far at our level, but it helps to react quickly and be able to predict how the ball is behaving. It all comes with experience.

We play the best out of 3 games. We have 4 tables but usually only put up 2; that is until we get more members. New and inexperienced members as well as experts are welcome. We do not do any teaching, although you are likely to get a few tips on your way.

We play for the fun and the challenge; we enjoy winning a point but never at the cost of our health and safety.

The cost is currently £3, but this goes down as we get more members to meet the cost.
